How does PRP Hair Plasma Re-growth treatment work?

• Platelet rich Plasma (PRP) uses the patient’s own blood which is put in a centrifuge to separate out this growth factor containing component.
• The PRP is injected into the scalp to promote healing, increase blood flow and stimulate hair follicles to grow healthier.
• PRP can be used for the purpose to stimulate inactive or dormant follicles in a variety of hair loss conditions and to stimulate grafted follicles into the growth phase.
• The treatment can be used as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with a hair transplant procedure.

Who is suitable for the treatment?

• Suitable for any Men or Women who suffer with hair loss either through genetic predisposition, hormonal issues, trauma or alopecia.

Who is not suitable for the treatment?

• Not all patients are suitable for the treatment. The treatment will not be beneficial for those who are completely bald.
• Caution should be taken in the following situations:

What steps are involved in the treatment?

• The doctors will use a 3 stage technique.
• First blood will be extracted from your vein and placed in a special test tube to be centrifuged. Meanwhile Local Anaesthetic cream will be applied to your scalp to numb the area and avoid any discomfort.
• The PRP is then injected into the affected areas of the scalp.
• Micro-needling procedure then takes place to activate the PRP. This creates tiny wounds in the scalp and triggers a healing response.
• The area is cleaned up and after care ointment provided.

How does the treatment feel?

• There should be no discomfort during the procedure as Anaesthetic will be used to numb the area. There is no downtime associated with this treatment. You can continue with normal activities. You will need to avoid hot shower on the day of the treatment, avoid sauna/steam room and exercise for 48 hours after the treatment. Sun protection will need to be worn for the first 48 hours.

How many treatments are required?

• 3 sessions 8 week intervals gives boost to hair & scalp. You will be advised more accurately of the number of sessions when you come in for the consultation.

What Results can I expect?

• You will start to see results in about 4 to 8 months after your PRP hair re-growth procedure. This follows the normal hair growth cycle.
• Most patients will see remarkable improvement in volume and quality of their hair growth.
• At first you may notice your hair is no longer shedding thus looks more dense. Over 3-6 months you may notice new hair growth.
• Hair will continue to thicken over the next 12-15 months.

Are there any possible side effects/Downtime?

• This treatment is non-invasive and there’s minimal temporary side effects. Doctors have safely been using this technique for years to stimulate wound healing and improve the appearance of skin. You may experience pinpoint bleeding and redness in the area. A tight feeling in the scalp can last up to a day, we recommend taking a painkiller on the day and day after treatment to prevent any mild headache.

Is there any Aftercare/Homecare?

• We recommend that you wear a hat and do not expose the scalp to the sun as the skin is still tender, extra caution should be taken for the first 48 hours.
  The scalp should be kept clean by regularly using clean water to avoid any infection at the injection sites.
• Also the use of a home dermaroller daily to stimulate blood supply to the scalp and enhance results.
