How does Milia Removal work?

• The Advanced Electrolysis involves applying a sterilised needle with an electrical current inserted into the centre of the Milia to break the surface.
• The contents of the Milia is then removed using sterile equipment or simply squeezing it out.
• Once extracted the Milia is completely flat and the skin healing process begins.

Who is suitable for the treatment?

• Anyone who suffers from Milia whether it’s just a single one or many, regardless of size.

Who is not suitable for the treatment?

The following are contraindications and treatment can therefore not be carried out:

• Hepatitis B (highly infectious, virus not easily destroyed)
• Blood disorders (Haemophilia)
• Heart conditions, especially when taking blood thinners such as warfarin.
• High blood pressure (can only treat when controlled or lowered)
• Skin diseases and allergies (fungus infections, broken skin, active eczema or psoriasis)
• Diabetic (skin is slower to heal)
• Very sensitive skin (sun burn)
• Anti-coagulant drugs
• Pregnancy (some disorders arise during pregnancy but can disappear after birth)
• Keloid scarring (after injury there may be overgrowth of skin. Further keloids may develop after treatment).
• Epilepsy (an epileptic fit could be brought on
• General ill health (this can affect skin healing time)

Consultation Procedure?

• At your Free Consultation our practitioner will assess your Milia and check your suitability for the treatment.
• Depending on the size of Milia, and area to be covered they will recommend you the cost and number of sessions required.

What steps are involved in the treatment?

• First the area is cleansed with alcohol to disinfect the skin and remove any local anaesthetic cream.
• Products are applied to the skin to soften The Milia.
• The electrical current is set to match the size of Milia and ensure it does not cause damage to the skin.
• The probe of the needle with electrical current is applied to the centre of the Milia to de-roof the top and create an opening.
• The contents of the Milia are then removed with a sterile needle or simple squeezing it out carefully to avoid injury to the skin.
• Each Milia is cauterised in the same way until the whole area has been treated.
• Witch Hazel and a special ointment are applied to the skin to aid healing and avoid any infection to the area.
• You will be given a post treatment aftercare sheet to follow.

How does the treatment feel?

• There will be a mild sensation similar to a stinging nettle on the skin when the Milia is cauterised.
• There will be a feeling of pressure when the contents of the Milia is squeezed out.
• There might be residual stinging for a few minutes after treatment.
• To alleviate any discomfort we use a local anaesthetic before the treatment so the treatment should be pain-free or very minimal pain in most cases.
• Most of our clients tolerate the treatment very well.

How many treatments are required?

• A single session is sufficient in most cases to remove Milia.
• Our prices are based on a 20 minute session so a single or multiple Milia can be removed in one sitting.
• If another treatment is required we recommend session intervals to be two weeks to ensure that the areas treated have healed well.
• You will be given an approximate number of sessions required at your Consultation.

Are there any possible side effects/Downtime?

• The area will look like mosquito bites after treatment, the skin will have been irritated due to contents of Milia being squeezed out.
• There will also be redness which will take a few days to completely reside.
• Although unlikely there is a possibility that scabs may form in the treated area, this will heal completely in 10 days.
• Although unlikely there is a risk of minimal scarring, this will resolve within time.
• You will be advised to use certain after care products to aid quicker skin healing.
• Please not that you can use mineral make up or Blemish Balm to conceal the skin whilst healing.

Is there any Aftercare/Homecare?

• The aftercare procedure will be discussed at your consultation. Following the aftercare advice is crucial to avoid damage to the area and allow the skin to heal without complications.
• The healing process starts immediately, but the time of complete healing varies. Normally takes a minimum 10-14 days for complete healing of the skin.
• On completion of the treatment, the area should be kept cool, a cold compress can be applied. Witch hazel should be applied to avoid infection. The areas should be left alone to ensure the natural healing of the skin. If the area feels dry or tender some cortisone cream can be applied.
• You will be given an after care advice sheet to take home with you after completion of your treatment.
